Thread: Alternate fingerings

  1. God bless you Dave. I'm a Cornet, Valve Trombone, and Euphonium player, so I speak Bb TC. Since I was a wee nipper F and G at the top of the staff have always been sharp for me. By using 1-3 or 4(depending on the horn) I can now play "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" with out all the lip gymnastics.

I'm glad you found that helpful! When I wrote my "Advanced Fingering Guide" I included a section on using them for intonation. Obviously a trombone player would be comfortable with the concept of alternate positions for technique/convenience, but there isn't much need for alternate positions to fix intonation on trombone!
