Thread: FS: Geneva Oldroyd Cardinal Custom Euphonium

Thumbs up FS: Geneva Oldroyd Cardinal Custom Euphonium

Well, I guess I have to eat my hat.... It pains me to sell this, but I just can't afford owning two high-end euphoniums right now, and soon after buying this horn I found an Adams E1 that I just play way more often.

This horn is a customized Geneva Oldroyd Cardinal. Nickel bell, with GVL (Glenn Van Looy) badge engraved on it. I was told it's essentially the Glenn Van Looy model with the original Cardinal leadpipe. I bought this new in February 2019.

It's silver plated with red brass slides and black lacquered valve caps. The fourth valve has heavy caps (the bottom valve cap has a little imperfection in the lacquer).

The bell has had some dent work done, which is faintly visible (you'll definitely want to be careful with the bell, it's a thin gauge).

I had a few customizations made: Custom finger buttons which feel much better than the original tiny convex ones. I had the trigger removed and a brace put on the main tuning slide - this can be easily reversed if you prefer, I'll include all the pieces of the original trigger assembly. Pistons have all been vented. And finally, the fourth valve keeper has had a shim welded onto it in order to keep it tight. All work was done by Martin Wilk in Palmyra, Indiana. Edit: I also had the lyre box removed, so you can see a faint mark where it used to be.

Comes with Oldroyd Cardinal hard case.

Hopefully the photos show everything, but let me know if there's something else you'd like to get a better look at.

    Asking $5300. Open to offers.

Located in Indianapolis. Willing to split shipping.

The horn sounds and responds fantastic. You can read my thread about it on this forum.

Gonna bump this one more time (hopefully that's ok Dave!) since it's been a few months. A great horn is just sitting here not being played!
