Conferences in the West

I have been perusing the conference websites trying to decide if I want to make one of them happen next year and I noticed a sad trend. There seems to be hardly anything happening in the Western states or specifically the Pacific Northwest.

Any speculation on why this would be? We have plenty of areas that could host such conferences.
