FS: Used Lacquer York Preference YO-EU3067 Euphonium
***SOLD***
Posting here to see if there's any interest in my York Preference 3067 euphonium.
This instrument has taken me through the second half of high school, undergrad and most of my graduate studies, and has served me well through various solo and ensemble competitions, recitals, juries, and auditions.
Only selling as I've found a used Willson 2900 that suits my current sound concept better than my York, after first play testing one at ITEC 2019.
I'm asking $3500, which includes shipping costs to the Continental US. If you happen to be in the San Diego area, I'm more than happy to let you try the instrument in person, as well as reduce the price to reflect saved shipping costs.

I've written below an admittedly long, but I hope comprehensive, description and history of the horn:
Purchased new from The HornGuys in La Crescenta, CA in 2010. Has been chemically cleaned once a year by Nick Rail Music in San Diego, with monthly disassembly and baths in between, which involved brushing out the instrument and soaking in a bathtub of warm water with mild dish soap. All slides and valves are free and easy to pull.
In terms of the condition, there has been finish wear and past repairs on the horn: Some scratches and small dents in the bell tubing and valve slide knuckles, lacquer wear on the right hand hold bar, valve button tops (they are solid brass without any inlay like other brands, so more susceptible to wear from use. Around the fist valve casing and other areas as seen by the photos.
Had damage to the bell and a stuck first valve in 2016, all of which was repaired by Paul Abel of the Abel Brass Clinic in Rochester, NY. (Did my undergrad at University of Rochester) First valve was freed and now works perfectly fine, main brace attaching leadpipe to bell was resoldered. Bell was repaired (scarring can be seen on the bell on the logo) and slight warping in the bell rim is still visible. The bell couldn’t be completely straightened out without taking the bell off the body of the instrument. The lone stud that is connecting part of the floating leadpipe to the bell is loose, however I haven’t noticed any detrimental effects on the playing of the horn from this.
Still plays very well, and can produce a characteristic dark sound similar to a Besson Sovereign 967. Well built, sturdy instrument with many years of life still in it.
Valve action is fast and quiet with the rubber spring dampers and the set of MeadSprings, which are stiffer than the original springs and take some getting used to, but for me they improved the valve response.
Comes with original care guides, a used Reunion Blues Continental soft case (that includes a mouthpiece pouch) and a set of Original MeadSprings installed (purchased in 2013) but I will provide the original factory springs if you want to swap them out. Will also include a new set of valve felts and the original valve guides, and can add a used silver Denis Wick 4AL (the original mouthpiece that came with the instrument ) if requested.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks!
