    Suggestions for patriotic euphonium solo

Any suggestions for a euphonium solo with piano accompaniment, appropriate for upcoming 4th of July weekend? I am looking for something for church offertory, so should only run 3 minutes or so.

American Portrait by Buckley. Covers all the bases! Lasts a little over 6 min, tho and is for concert band. Never mind...

Yes, thank you. I am looking for something sort of like that, only shorter. I purchased that not long ago, but it is much too long.

How about Eternal Father? It's a nice hymn that is found in various hymnals (with different names sometimes) and it is the official hymn of the Coast Guard and Navy. Ken Friedrich has a pretty good arrangement in this book of unaccompanied solos:

This book of hymns and descants has the tune and many others. You could make an arrangement out of them if you have a cooperative organist/pianist:

If you can find a traditional piano/solo arrangement of “God Bless America” I’d be happy to be a member of your congregation.
Only problem would be the risk of singers joining in.
As a solo piece, the verse is a must, and allows for thoughtful musical interpretation before moving into the slightly more uptempo refrain......

Don’t know the piece but you should be able to find a good place to make a cut to meet your time limit.

This is probably too late for you to acquire for this weekend, but check out some of the arrangements Valerie Floeter has done. Though not in the description when you click on it, her first Hymprovisations for Piano and Instruments has America The Beautiful which would work well.

My mom (piano/organ) has all of the Hymprovisations and Instrumental Praise volumes, so we often play something for church when I am in town. They are generally nice arrangements imo

Thank you, I will check it out. "Hymnprovisations" is clever. I see that there is a CD-ROM with instrument parts...Does the CD also contain "play along" tracks?
