Here is the Brook Mays listing: https://www.brookmays.com/i--EUPHST1...ium-wCase.aspx

Listed as a "King" euphonium. Their web site listing for euphoniums basically sucks. This contributes to their suckiness. Another example is they have Willson compensators listed under non-compensating horns. This website is so badly done that it almost looks like it is not authentic. I would fire the current website dude and get their website in a little better order. It is horrible.

Interesting that they say in there online ads "guaranteed lowest prices"; so now looks like they have potentially the same horn listed for 12k in one place and just under $8k in another. Do we have a $6k, anybody? Going once, going twice ...

Those are in fact, two SEPARATE listings on the SAME Brook Mays (www.brookmays.com) website. Their website is somewhat less than stellar.

I did see the $7,999.00 listing, also, when on their site.

I will second that. Further, if Brooks Mays can't post correct and reasonable prices, I wouldn't do business with them....

Interesting discovery on the DF Music Web site relevant to this discussion of the Amazon and Brook Mays "overpricing" of the Sterling Virtuoso. DF Music notes the list price being $12k plus, but the DF Music price being just under $8k. See here https://www.dfmusicinc.com/product_p/st500esiv.htm.

  9. Aha! The old "List Price" vs. "My Price" thing. Lately I have seen some really sleazy card ads for Tesla that say something like: "price = $56,000, just $39,500 after savings!" However the fine prints indicates that you actually pay the full amount and the "SAVINGS" are estimates of how much you might save in the future by using electricity instead of gas, how much you might get in tax rebates depending on when you purchase it, etc.

NOBODY pays $12,000 for a Sterling (or an Adams, or a Besson, or a Miraphone for that matter)! These days, my guess is that the actual price you will pay would be closer to $8,000 based on research done here. It also depends on how long the horn has been in inventory. In the past, a new Sterling might pop up in some strange music store that had ordered a "onesie" and hadn't been able to sell it. These tended to get cleared in the $6,500 - $7,000 range.

Wow, that's bad. It looks like they're not willing to spend seriously on the website and haven't been for a long time.
