    Authentic Sterling Virtuoso?

I've noticed this horn on amazon and also Mays Music in Texas, I believe it is, and was wondering if this is an authentic Sterling Virtuoso. Here's how it's listed on Amazon:
    King EUPHST1 Sterling 1065HGS "Virtuoso" Euphonium w/Case
and the price is a whopping $12k.

Haven't seen Sterlings listed before as King EUPHST1, so thought that was curious. Plus there's not much explanation re: the horn specifics.

    Anyone familiar with this horn?

The horn looks real. The price looks unreal. But if you bought this horn, you could tell everyone "I bought the most expensive euphonium on the planet."

Oh, and the King part is not real. I assume it was one of those copy/paste accidents that happen to all of us now and then.

A few years ago, wasn't there a European company offering a semi-custom euphonium where the base model started at $10K? There was some talk on the forum about it, but I don't recall anyone saying they had actually tried it. That gets me speculating what Monette would charge if they decided to make a euphonium.

This is probably the euph you are thinking of:

              Jeez, that thing is butt-ugly.

It looks like salvage from a fire.

Yeah, that's the one. Their model doesn't even have water valves - I guess you have to special order them.

If you go to Brooks May's own web site, they list the horn for $7,999. This is a more realistic retail price for this horn. I have no idea whatsoever why it would show up at $12,000 on Amazon.

Doug: I did go to the Brook Mays Web site, and checked it again just now, and they indeed do list this euphonium at $12k.

Here is the Brook Mays listing: https://www.brookmays.com/i--EUPHST1...ium-wCase.aspx

Listed as a "King" euphonium. Their web site listing for euphoniums basically sucks. This contributes to their suckiness. Another example is they have Willson compensators listed under non-compensating horns. This website is so badly done that it almost looks like it is not authentic. I would fire the current website dude and get their website in a little better order. It is horrible.

Interesting that they say in there online ads "guaranteed lowest prices"; so now looks like they have potentially the same horn listed for 12k in one place and just under $8k in another. Do we have a $6k, anybody? Going once, going twice ...

Those are in fact, two SEPARATE listings on the SAME Brook Mays (www.brookmays.com) website. Their website is somewhat less than stellar.

I did see the $7,999.00 listing, also, when on their site.
