    Looking for guidance on horns

As a novice to the brass world, I would like to ask some advice. I have euphoniums and would now like to add an alto horn. Any opinions between a new silver/gold Schiller Edinburg Elite alto horn with a slide trigger vs. a used silver Besson 1052 alto horn in excellent condition? Both about the same price at $650. Thanks Cappy

Okay, take this with a scoop of salt. I have no experience with alto/tenor horns except for maybe two or three minutes buzzing on one while working on inventorying the band room at my church (Salvation Army). I know that SA prefers Besson horns for most of their low brass. That seems to include the alto horn. So maybe that institutional experience means something. Maybe not. I have no experience with the Schiller horn to balance it against. For what any of that is worth....

Thank you Sara! Yes I've heard a lot of good things about Besson. I guess my real unknown is the Schiller. I appreciate your input. Thanks!
