Minor Alterations - arr. David Lovrien

If your community band is looking for a different piece for your holiday concert, I'd like to recommend "Minor Alterations" by David Lovrien. We're playing it again this year after 4 year break of not playing it. It's popular with band members and the patrons alike. It's an arrangement of Christmas melodies in a minor key.

We're also doing one of my favorites... "Russian Christmas Music" (Alfred Reed). I think many of the folks in the band like this one too.

Thanks for that Rick. Just put in an order request to our director for "Minor Alterations". Great piece. Might be a little ambitious for our New Horizons Band, but we'll see.

I think it's doable for many comm bands. It really works here in S. Florida where a number of patrons are Jewish but still like Christmas music. Of course we always play some Hanukkah type music as well. My favorite in that vein is "Rhapsody for Hanukkah" by Stephen Bulla.

Oops, I linked to the wrong arr. of Stephen Bulla's "Rhapsody for Hanukkah" in above post. That's great but the band arr. is a little different. It doesn't have the 32nd notes that Hiram plays so well around 10:25. Yikes!

Here's a link for the arrangement for band:
