This is my Prestige 2052 with a mixture of gold and ruthenium plating. Ruthenium plating gives a beautiful anthracite color with silvery reflections, used also to cover jewelery: it is very hard and, although it is a very thin veil, it is not easily consumed. What do you see in the pictures is 2 years old and it's like it was just done. I like it, it could be an idea.

Franz, the image did not come through. Could you try again to attach it?

  3. Hi Doug,

I assume that that was a "York" problem as Black Nickel is harder and better corrosion resistant then silver. Schreiber Keilwerth uses it on their saxophones with no issue at all.

  4. Looked into the option franz mentioned and that's what I'll have done.
Even better: franz is going to help me getting the stuff plated at the address where he had it done! Wonderful how a forum like this one brings people together and we can help each other out.
ADAMS will polish the parts and send them to me, so I can get them to franz. couple of weeks later franz will send them back and ADAMS can mount them back on the instrument.

    Parts to be ruthenium plated:
    valvebuttons 4 x
    Waterkeys 3 x
    Topcaps 4 x
    grimegutter 1 x
    bottomcaps 4 x
    receiver 1 x
    receiverscrew 1 x
    trigger lever 1 x
    triggercap + small screw 1 x
    valvestems 4 x
    trigger rod 1 x

I can't thank franz enough for his help. Will share the end result with you all.....

Adams did an expert job on the repair. It's looks like new.
I really love the "new" look of my E3. To my eyes the ruthenium looks fantastic! Thanks franz for all the help!

Nice! I like the places the ruthenium was used, too. Seems like just the right amount of contrast to me.

Unf, that looks so hot! One of the things I loved about the Geneva I briefly had was the look of the black nickel plating on the valve caps. Congrats, that looks really well done!

That looks great! I like that better than gold trim.

Looks nice! Glad your E3 is well and back to you!! My E3 is currently at the doctor (Lee Stofer in Iowa) getting a couple minor things done. A day without my Adams is like a day without sunshine!!
