Thanks, just received mine. We'll see how it goes.

Received the strap, and like Rick suggested, it works well around the 3rd valve slide on my 5050 with no issues. It is extremely well made. Shipping and communication with Valerie was excellent.

I'm chatting to Valerie now about a strap for an older Yamaha 321S. I'm trying to decide whether I need the 1-strap or the newer 2-strap version. Attached is a picture showing the 321S bracing and my left hand position. Any ideas which would work better? Thanks

It's hard to know because there are variables regarding your hand size, how tight you want it to be, and possibly others. I would think the best bet is to get the double strap because it offers a little more granularity for positioning. Even though my horn works with the single strap, I've been using the double on my horn and it feels as secure as the single strap.

Thanks, Dave. I ordered the 2-strap version yesterday.

I have a Hirsbrunner as well and just got the strap. Do you attach it to the main bow below the little brace between the 4th valve and the main loop?

I love this thing! I tend to be a “belly hugger” when I play and had considered getting/making a lap pad for a while before deciding to try the strap first.

I play on a hirsbrunner and the strap fits just great. There seems to be a lot of adjustability. It’s longer than it needs to be for my horn, but with it adjusted properly there’s not too much extra strap hanging off or anything of that sort (so no modification needed at all).

I’ve found that when using the strap, I tend to hold the weight of the horn more evenly without pulling it in against myself. This was my goal. My left hand also tends to not get tired as quickly.....the strap puts the weight of the horn kind of on the knuckle of my index finger where it meets my hand, so my thumb stays relaxed and my index finger is free to work 4th valve. My right hand also seems to have less tension because I’m not trying to hold the weight of the horn much if at all with that hand.

In short, the strap seems to relieve a lot of tension for me......highly recommend!

I'm considering trying one of these. Can anyone comment on how much it slows down getting into and out of playing position? Specifically, I'm a lefty, and would need to disengage to pencil a comment on the page. This is often done in haste.

I am thinking you want to know how long to move your left hand out of the strap and away from the horn (while holding the horn with your right hand). Virtually no time at all. My hand simply slides right out of the strap. You just put the holding emphasis on your right hand and move your left hand out of the strap. It would be quick. Unless for some reason you have the strap tightened down such that your hand does not come out easily. It isn't too big of an investment to try the strap, and I don't think it would cause any issues in being able to quickly write your comments.

My hand easily pulls right out. I have never considered it a hindrance to grabbing a pencil and marking things up while holding the horn. (I am a lefty as well!)

I have purchased several of these. I actually JUST pulled the trigger on a couple double strap ones to test them out.

Out of curiosity I just compared grabbing a pencil while holding the horn with and without the comfy euph strap. I would say the difference was quite negligible. There was no difference reaching from the horn to the pencil to jot down a note. Getting the hand back in the strap was really easy and not really any slower than gripping it with no strap.

If I really stretch my imagination I could see maybe kind of fumbling/missing the strap if you were REALLY stressed/in a hurry, but I think that would be very rare. The size and structure of the hand loop is really comfortable and is pretty much easy in, easy out.

That's good to hear. It's a bit clumsy with a leather trombone strap.

I was interested in one of the Calder Grips, but they quit returning my emails after an exchange or two. Not sure what happened there.
