Being a part-time tubist at best, I found the audition information especially interesting. Makes a lot of sense -- people don't care what equipment you're using, and that goes for horns, mouthpieces, the type of stand or pillow you're using, or whether you oil your valves every day or not.
What's important are the fundamentals - pitch, rhythm, articulation, SOUND.
Everything else is incidental.
