Howdy folks, my first post here!
I've recently purchased a nice old York made "Grand Rapids Band Inst. Co" euphonium.
Its a fine player, needs some work which I will do (I'm a tech) but in the meantime I'm having a blast playing it.
Before I delve in, a quick condensed background: I've been a drummer for almost 30 years but have been a multi-instrumentalist since my early 20's, my first brass instrument was an old euph (since sold) and I've owned/played/sold many other horns but mostly trombone and tuba/sousa.
So I picked up this old euph thinking I'd like to have one around. It came with a Bach 12C mouthpiece which I don't mind but I'm wondering about something that might be a better match.
This is a small bore instrument, 11" bell with approx .550" bore at 2nd valve slide.
Any suggestions?
Oh it takes a standard shank mouthpiece (the Bach 12C is standard trombone shank not large shank)
I'm looking for something fairly economical, this instrument gets played quite a bit but I'm far from a pro or a rich person!
thanks,
Mark Kaylor
