How does its sound/performance compare with the 2900? Please keep in mind that I play a 2900, so I will likely take your comments very personally and become overly defensive!

The Willson sound is very consistent, packed with core and a characteristic euphonium sound from ppp to fff.

The Shires sound is very consistent, packed with core, a characteristic euphonium sound from ppp to fff, and it also has a broad color pallet that lends itself well to a wide variety of settings.
