Is any company making 4-valve compensating F tubas currently? I Love my Besson 982 compensating Eb tuba, and for years have been hoping I would locate a used Besson compensating F tuba, but no such luck. I think they only made about 10 of them. I heard a few years ago that a Chinese compensating F tuba was a possibility, but have not heard anything concrete.

My former Coast Guard Band colleague, Tucker Jolly, used a Besson F compensating tuba for solos in the band. I thought he sounded fantastic on it! It was very nimble, more than an Eb, I think. But the sound was still very nice.Dave Werden (ASCAP)
