Thread: Mead Springs + King 2280SP?

  1. Mead Springs + King 2280SP?

I have a King 2280SP and the valves are noticeably heavy and loud. Would putting Mead Springs in place of the original springs help?

These springs are good (all same strength vs the euphonium version), but if the valves are noisy because of worn out guides or worn out felts, the springs won't help.

  3. I do not believe that the guides or felts are worn out. The horn is less than a year old. Hopefully these springs will help quiet it down!

The light ones will not work, sadly, because the King 2280 isn't compensating.

Aren't compensating valves longer and heavier? I'd think that light springs would be a better fit for a non-comp horn, but I'm certainly not an expert.

I have both a king and a compensating euphonium with light mead Springs. The two spring sets are 100% interchangeable

The length of the valve has nothing to do with the length of the spring needed
