Thread: Gig bag for double bell euphonium?

  1. Gig bag for double bell euphonium?

I am considering buying a Holton double bell euphonium that has a very good case. However, because of the weight, I would probably want to carry it around in a gig bag. Does anyone own a double bell? If so, do you use a gig bag? Has anyone seen a double bell in a gig bag? Thanks for your help.

I just suffer along with the hard case, but then I only take the horn out of the house once a year or so.

But I know Altieri Bags will make one for you:

  3. I purchased an Altieri Custom Gig Bag for my Holton 5 valve Double Bell without a case a couple years ago.
Fit is very good and quality is excellent.
The Holton is 30 inches long and most standard gig bags are too short.

  4. A couple of questions about your Holton

    Hi Jim

How much does your Holton weigh? how much in your gig bag? I considered buying a Holton 4 valve double bell but didn't bid because I thought it might be too heavy for me and, because I have had trouble paying the 1-3 C and 1-2-3 B natural on a 3 valve, I wanted to find out the distance between the left side of a Holton lst valve cap to the right side of the 3rd valve cap. On your horn, either the 1-3 distance or the 2-4. Thanks fhor your help and the information about the Altieri bag.

  5. Jimmy,
Unfortunately, I am not collocated with the Holton right now to weigh or measure it.
It is a reasonably heavy horn.
The large bell is upright while the small bell points forward.
The 5 valves are front action.
