    Fit of mouthpiece

How far should the mouthpiece go into the receiver?

I have a Hirsbrunner euphonium that comes with three mouthpiece receivers: small, medium and large.

Recently, I got a new mouthpiece. A Denis Wick SM3.5 but I am having trouble figuring out wich is the right receiver for it.

If I use the "medium", the mouthpiece only goes in about 5 - 10mm but if I use the "large" it goes in all the way to the cup of the mouthpiece. It status stuck though, so it is not loose.

See pics. The tip of my nail point to how far the mouthpiece goes into the "medium" receiver.Click image for larger version

      Hi Tim,

Thanks for the answer. I thought it was too deep, but on the other hand, the "medium" receiver did look not deep enough. I will keep using the "large" receiver for this mouthpiece.
