Doug Ruby's Stuff for Sale - 10 Mouthpieces

    Hi all,

I am trying to reduce my collection of popular parts (mouthpieces, etc.) that I happen to never use. I will update this thread as I get more things for sale, but I will start with 10 fairly popular trombone, baritone, and euphonium mouthpieces. All of the mouthpieces are in fantastic condition with generally minimal insertion wear. Many are silver with gold plated rim and cup.

Currently I am listing the following mouthpieces:

    1. DEG BB1BT - Brian Bowman 1 with large hank. Gold rim and cup. - $75 [SOLD]
    2. DEG BB1TB - Brian Bowman 1 with tenor shank. Gold rim and cup. - $75 [SOLD]
    3. Schilke 51D - tenor shank. All gold plated at factory. - $60 [SOLD]
    4. Wick SM4B - Steven Mead 26mm with tenor shank. Gold rim and cup. - $45 (in box)
    5. Wick 4BS - 26mm tenor shank. Gold rim and cup. - $45 (in box) [SOLD]
    6. Alliance B6 - Besson Prestige baritone mouthpiece - Gold rim and cup - $60 - [SOLD]
    7. Alliance DC3 - David Childs 26mm large shank - Gold rim and cup - $75 [SOLD]
    8. Warburton Demondrae - Miraphone 5050 mouthpiece - large shank - all silver - $60 [SOLD]

    Hi Doug,

These mouthpieces look great! Do you know what the difference, if any, is between a Yamaha 53HL and your Hokozano Special?

    Thanks,

    Robert Pendergast, DM

I checked with Adam Frey. He says they are pretty much the same thing.

We all should take a lesson from Doug. This is a great ad with excellent descriptions and pictures (and prices).

Kudos to you Doug, and good luck with the sale.

Doug, please give me your opinion on the DC3 vs a SM4.

If it has a scooch more backpressure than the Mead, I'd like to get it.

Dennis, cannot compare with the SM4 since I have never played one for any length of time, however, keep in mind that Dave switched from playing the Wick 4AL to the DC3. I have played the 4AL for over 30 years. If anything, the DC3 plays a bit "smaller" than the 4AL with a sharper rim and much heavier mass in the mouthpiece. Backpressure feels about the same as the 4AL. Also note that the DC3 is equivalent to the 4 series Wick while the DC2 is equivalent to the 3 series Wick.

              Still have 4 mouthpieces available

Just a quick bump...The following four mouthpieces above are still available. They are all in excellent condition. Note the fairly large Wick 4BS and SM4B. These are pretty good Yamaha 201/321 mouthpieces and have beautiful gold rim/cup plating.
              4. Wick SM4B - Steven Mead 26mm with tenor shank. Gold rim and cup. - $45 (in box)
              5. Wick 4BS - 26mm tenor shank. Gold rim and cup. - $45 (in box)
              9. Yamaha SH Special - Yamaha 842 mouthpiece - large shank - all silver - $45
              10. Bach 6 1/2 AL - tenor shank - all silver - $25 - (in box)

Sorry. This post is 7 years old. The SM4B is long gone. In fact. All of these mouthpieces are no longer with me.
