    Double Bells and Tuba Xmas

    Given the season:
What is the oldest Double Bell known to be surfacing for Tuba Xmas 2016?
What is the youngest Double Bell known to be surfacing for Tuba Xmas 2016?
Maker, Model and Vintage would be interesting bits.
Unfortunately, the job prevents mine from surfacing this year.

I was not able to attend tuba christmas this year either. An urgent family matter required me to be out of town. I just sold a 1911 Conn 5 valve front action double bell to a friend who is determined to play it next year. He's a really good player so it should be a treat for everyone.

I played my 1941 Holton double bell for many years at the Boston TubaChristmas. Invariably my picture ended up in the newspaper or a film clip because the horn was so unusual (and looked really good). But I never played it anywhere else. So it got sold. This year I have done so many outdoor Christmas Carol gigs (really cold) that I am seriously planning on buying one of the plastic euphs, just so I don't have to drag one of my good horns out into the cold.

Spotted a double bell today at the Orlando TubaChristmas, though I didn't ask about the model or age (and I'm not experienced enough to know from a distance). It did look like it was in wonderful condition, though.

I was not able to make it to Baltimore this year (the only one that fit in my schedule) due to an ice storm that morning. However, I usually play one of my double-bells, either my King 4v circa approximately 1917 or my 1945 King 5v. I also have a Buescher DBE circa 1938 that is missing the change valve piston. I will make a replacement one of these days...
