Suggestions for a short solo with band

I was planning on doing Fantasy Variations (Ito) for an upcoming concert. The conductor just informed me that she can only program a 4 to 5 minute solo. Everything I have is 6 minutes or longer. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Are you looking for something modern and original like the Ito or would a transcription be OK?

If you really wanted to do the Ito, you could probably make a cut...

How's your triple tonguing? This is a nice feature, "Concert Polka - Jenny Wren", and it was a favorite of Harold Brasch:

Here is a video (with piano in this case, but the sheet music link above is for band):

Maybe try and find a slow melody? Unfortunately I can't provide an example as most of the euphonium slow melodies I know of are for eupho with piano/brass band.

Good idea! Here is one, Danny Boy, arranged by my former band director. I've played it myself and it's very effective.
