Thread: Danny Boy for Four Euphs multi track

  1. Danny Boy for Four Euphs multi track

I made this using Audacity and a cheap Logitech USB mic. The arrangement is also by me. Hope you enjoy

Oh, you are right, however, I got a window when I clicked the link saying my browser could not run the audio file and it wanted me to pick an application to install. I don't do that. But, I did simply download your file and play it.

Nice arrangement and playing. Very enjoyable.

Well done! I have played around with multi-tracking in my basement studio, and the overall sound is similar to yours. My conclusion, and my suggestion to you, is to try to get to a good environment to record next time. I think it would make a huge difference! In my case there are some logistical limitations, but I'm going to try anyway.

Also, if you don't mind another suggestion, I would place the mic behind me and a little to the left. That way your breath sounds go away from the mic, and your body will help to lessen the mechanical noise of the horn. In a large room, that means you would face yourself opposite where you would to play for a live audience. That's fine for audio; not so good if you do video!

  8. Haha, thanks for the suggestion! There are some good sounding practice rooms at my school I could probably utilize. I will definitely try the mic placement suggestion as well. My valves are pretty loud. I still have metal valve guides on my new standard, I could also stand to replace the felts =) Maybe next pay check.

I found that the acoustics were much better than I had anticipated for being in a low ceiling carpeted room. In a way, it brought out the sweetness of the horn but dampened the low end too much. The mic picked up mostly mid frequencies as to be expected with a mic of its caliber.
