Hi everybody,
I got a question on the sound of different finishs in the Wessex Dolche Euphonium.
I play tenor trombone in a church brass band (tenor and bass parts) and I'm fascinated by the sound of a bigger horn like a tuba or euphonium.
Since it should be much easier to add playing a euphonium in Bb to playing a trombone, I'm not considering a tuba.
Now, I figured out a Wessex Dolce would be great (other makes of the JinBao 1150 eg Mack Brass, seem to be not available in Germany)
my question is how much does the finish, laquer, laquer and gold brass bell or silver make a difference on the sound?
And if it makes a difference, which gives a darker more tuba like sound?
I pretty much like the sound of the Yamaha 842 as played by Anthony Caillet in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mf2uYqDX8QA, for example?
Is one of the finishs closer to that sound?
Many thanks for replies, all the best,
Claus
