Online euphonium lessons by Brian Bowman

I noticed some Brian Bowman videos on YouTube last November, some of which were of him giving lessons on techniques. These lessons were posted by somebody named Corey Fleeman, about whom I know absolutely nothing. The videos are from lessons provided online for a fee by MusicProfessors.com. I looked up the web site and thought that $35 was not bad for a series of lessons from one of the most famous euphonium teachers out there. But I like to sleep on things, especially when they belong to outfits I do not know. Then December 1st, I looked at the site and found it no longer existed. I was directed to a site called Udemy.com, which is a company that conducts training courses online. They divided the MusicProfessor instruction into 3 parts, beginning, intermediate and solos. The price had increased to $45, $75 and $45 respectively. I looked again last weekend and noticed they now offer two blocks of instruction listed at $49 each but slashed to $10 each. The padlock in the lower right corner is closed.

I noticed someone entered a forum topic early last year on the old MusicProfessor site, but when he tried to pay, the lock would not secure, so he did not purchase the lessons.

Does anyone on this website know anything about this course? Is it legitimate? Is it any good? Does Brian Bowman even know he's in it? How much of it is taught by Brian Bowman? I have the Encore published Arban's book edited by Joseph Alessi and Brian Bowman and like it very much, but it isn't dynamic, is it? I am interested in these online lessons, especially at that price, but even that cheap I don't want to be ripped off. Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum!

The new site looks legitimate to me, but I have no personal knowledge. It showed up high in a Google search, and the site has a valid SSL (padlock) certificate.

These videos are now managed by Udemy, a VERY reputable online learning service.

Here is a list of Bowman's lessons on Udemy:

          Hello everyone,

I'm sorry I'm late to the game on this thread, but I wanted to clarify a few points with MusicProfessor:

          1) My name is Corey Fleeman, and I am the CEO of MusicProfessor. We started our company about 4.5 years ago and have been very blessed to work with great musicians like Dr. Bowman, Kevin Wass, John Holt, etc. Dr. Bowman in particular is a truly wonderful human being and musician.
          2) All of our courses are offered exclusively on Udemy.com. And now, thanks to updated Udemy pricing standards, all of our courses are just $30.
          3) However, because Udemy takes a cut of our sales for any courses sold on their site, we offer discounted pricing for all of our courses, including Euphonium, on our own website, www.MusicProfessor.com.
          4) graeme is correct. We do not offer Treble clef but hope to make it available in the future.
          5) Finally, we've partnered with ProSeries Now and have begun offering their intermediate/advanced content alongside our own. With the addition of the ProSeries content, we now offer nearly 12 hours of instruction for each instrument!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time; I'm always happy to help. corey@musicprofessor.com

          Thanks,

          -Corey

Quick update: our Euphonium Pro Series course does indeed offer Treble Clef. This is an excellent course for more advanced players looking to improve tone and technique and contains almost 7.5 hours of professional content. Enjoy!

Thanks for this Update, I have gone back to the web site and I think it would be a good Idea for it to say that it is also available in Treble Clef.

Tell us about it! A review would be of great interest, I think.

The course consists of 40 lectures you play along with a quartet consisting of 3 euphoniums and a Tuba, for each lecture
you are able to download the music in bass or treble clef. The course is 7.5 hours long and you can just take it in bite
size chunks. Presently the course is only $15 you will not get a lesson for that price!. To view the content see

After previewing through all the courses found under "euphonium", it looks like the first four that pop up in when searched our taught by Dr. Brian Bowman and the one in the link above "Euphonium Pro Series" is taught by Dr. Gail Robertson.
