Visiting Dr. Frederick Young to do intonation and optimisation tests on Wessex tubas and euphonium. The new Gnagey Eb is in the picture.
Through these tests we can scientifically fine tune the horns to make them play even better!

Can you provide some more info or pictures of the Gnagey Eb? Is this a compensating model?

The new Wessex Gnagey Eb is 5-valve non-compensating Eb tuba. We have just visited Sam Gnagey and he is well pleased with the prototype. It plays superb with about the best low register I have found from any Eb tuba. This is a real 'can-do-anything' tuba.

The new Eb will be available early 2016

Probably no one remembers or cares, but several years ago I proposed on Tubenet that such an instrument (akin to the Star or Starlight) be cloned by the Chinese. At that point there was skepticism from most about the market for such a horn. I'm really happy to see it.

Alas, I doubt that at this point I will ever buy one. Since going over to the dark side of 3+1, I don't see myself as ever going back. It's just so much more comfortable and pleasant for me.
