Thread: FS: King 5-Valve Double-Euphonium - PRICE LOWERED

Thumbs up FS: King 5-Valve Double-Euphonium - PRICE LOWERED

I have not seen one of these for sale for a long time. It is a King from around 1950 in lacquer, with dual curved bells. The original hard case, in reasonable condition, is included. I would love to have this one because I played a 1-bell King in HS and later in college/CG marching band. It is the most streamlined-looking 2-bell, in my opinion (although the ones that look ungainly may actually be better for attracting attention & questions).

Seller has 100% positive rating. Starting bid is $2,199.95.

ITEM SOLD FOR BEST OFFER (AMOUNT NOT DISCLOSED) - CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNER!

I just lowered the minimum number of characters to 3, to allow for sigh, wow, etc.

This instrument has been relisted just recently. So, if you're in the market, it's worth a look again.

  6. Having never played one of these, what does the 5th valve do? Is it practical to work 5 piston valves in a row?

The 5th is the bell transfer valve.

4 & 5 are usually played with the left.

You can see the 5th valve / left hand work pretty clearly in this video. It's a video I made for fun on my own double-bell euphonium: the Lonely Goatherd.

Wow, that was very nice, Dave. Now I want a double bell even more!
