I just now noticed on this website an ad for Amazon. Do you benefit every time someone clicks on it?

For the most part, such ads will benefit the site if you click and then purchase something. I will get a small percentage of the sales (and of course you pay no more to Amazon than if you bought it without clicking from here). It's not a lot but it helps defray expenses.

However, if you are seeing popup ads, that would usually indicate a problem. You may have malware or just a pesky toolbar that you inadvertently installed sometime. None of the ads I put on my site will cause a popup to appear when you land on a page.
