    Need a good cheap euph

    Hi all,

I'm an intermediate player on euphonium and baritone horn and I am looking for something generally reliable and overall decent. My budget is around $800 and under, which is fairly low, so I doubt there's anything amazing under it. But if you have a suggestion, feel free to post below! I need some recommendations on brands in that price range, or if you have a specific model in mind, I'd like to know! Any type of euph or baritone works for me (although a marching euphonium would be best).

    Thanks for your recommendations.

    Simon

    Welcome to the forum!

If you really want a marching horn, I'd suggest trying the Wessex:

They seem generally to be the best of the Chinese imports these days, although I have not tried their marching brass specifically.

Schiller is also a good brand, and there are a couple less expensive models available now on eBay:

Is there a specific reason you want a marching horn?

Thanks for the marching euph recs! Just wondering, do you have any regular euphoniums in mind?

Mainly because I may join a marching band, come next year, but a regular euph works for me too.

If it's possible, try to hold off for a bit and get a little more to buy the Mack Brass Euph. It's warranted, just above your price range, and from reviews, a quality horn.

In the long run, a concert horn will probably be more useful than a marching horn (unless your goal is to do drum corps or marching band primarily) and it could serve as a horn you March with.

Keep an eye out here: http://northernlowbrass.webs.com/apps/webstore/

He usually has a King Euphonium for reasonable prices. Or contact him directly.

I play one and it will serve your needs.

Thanks for this suggestion! The link routes to a 404 page but I found it on their site anyway.

I'll check his website for an update, right now he's out of that model.
