    New England Area

I have experience with Tom Pinto on Long Island, NY and with "quinntheeskimo" via eBay. Both are "wholesalers" rather than store fronts. Expect to purchase from either in "as-is" condition with the opportunity to return. Generally these will be horns that have not been serviced. Prices are generally quite good and I know that with Tom, I was anble to spend several hours in NY auditioning horns. If you were travelling to Dillon, it may be a good opportunity to also see Tom.

Dillon Music is well-known to us in the low brass world. They have a good sales staff and a good repair shop, and are often seen at ITEA events.

          TOM PINTO UPDATE

A couple of months ago I called Tom Pinto to see if he had a particular horn. To my surprise and embarrassment his wife answered the phone and informed me that Tom had passed away. She was liquidating his collection of horns from a list she had of Tom's. Just beware if you call. I think it would be good to help her liquidate the inventory, but I'm not sure of its status and she does not know horns, just the list.

Have a good day. Play your horn today because you never know about tomorrow!

Northern Low Brass (http://northernlowbrass.webs.com/apps/webstore/) has had some good-looking used instruments and deals in the past couple of years. Worth a look. A few months ago he had a four-valve rotary Miraphone Eb tuba that I was ringing my hands over. By the time I thought seriously about it, it was gone. He seems to have more tubas than other instruments, but there's a 3+1 Boosey euph there now.
