I've bought twice from Quinn and was very happy each time. Two classic horns. One an early Sterling and the other a round stamp Sovereign. There's a guy from Germany on EBay named g.mu6 who has many older instruments of European origin who is reputable if there is something that strikes your fancy. I found a very nice Czech Josef Lidl piston bass trumpet through him. Of course for the price of used you can go with Mack Brass. Tom McGrady is a stand-up guy and a pleasure to deal with. He is extremely knowledgable and stands behind his products 100%.

The most popular online shopping site for instruments is probably eBay.

eBay has several vendors who frequently have brass. One mentioned by a senior member here is Quinn the Eskimo:

Another very well-known dealer is Woodwind & Brasswind, who carries both new and used instruments, as well as scratch & dent horns (shop worn).

Hi,
Shipping to the US for a euphonium is approx. ?120 - ?150 GBP depending on actual size which is tracked and insured.
With regards to import duties that would be for the buyer to check as this varies by State.

As far as import duties, you can do a rough calculation of 3% for an instrument. Here is a more exact calculator:

I think Jenny was thinking of sales/use tax, which does vary by state. I've found when dealing with my European colleagues that they often conflate VAT with the various state sales/use taxes, and they will frequently quote import duties and VAT together in the final price.

I apologize in advance for bringing it up; I have no intent to start a discussion about state sales/use taxes. That issue is beyond the scope of this forum, and I will only address it in private messages.

If you mean a philosophical debate on sales/use tax, then I agree it would be a distraction for the forum. But I certainly welcome getting a little more background on the whole import topic. I, for one, know a little more now than I did before.
