Thread: Low pitch too low, high pitch too high

  1. I had a recording bell tuba with an upright replacement bell that was too short, and was essentially a "high-pitch" horn. I did what was recommended above: I found a tuning slide bow of the same make and model, and Dan Schultz made me a "long-leg" tuning slide, so I could keep the other one if I ever retrofitted an original bell.

  2. I can second dukachop's comments on the CONN 30I. In High School, I frequently had the tuning slide almost completely in. If the conductor tuned a hair sharp I was in trouble. For years I thought it was me, but had no problem tuning other horns. Was never as detailed as dukachop. Guess I will have to check with my local shop on potential tuning slide mods.
