FS: Mint condition Willson 2900S Euphonium SOLD

I purchased this horn less than a year ago and I've kept it in pristine condition. There is one small cosmetic dent on the bottom of the horn (see picture). All of the valves and slides move freely and there are no blemishes on the horn. The horn is a medium shank model.

Had the horn chemically cleaned today (11/1)

I am selling because the Euro shank isn't working for me as much as I thought it would and I need to go to a large shank euphonium.

I am hoping to get somewhere between 6.5-7K for this horn. I bought this horn from Dillon's for $7,895.00. This is a great deal on a horn that is practically brand new!

Included is the Willson Deluxe Case

    Hi Steve

WHy not just get the reciever changed to a large shank.
As I live in the UK my 2900 came with one on, I believe the leadpipe itself is exactly the same. It should make a big diference.

    YD
    Current Euphs:
    York Eminence
Boosey & Hawkes Sovereign (Round Stamp/ Globe)
    Boosey & Hawkes Imperial
Plus an attic of old classics in various states of repair!
    Previous Euphs:

    Besson Prestige (German)
    Geneva Symphony
    Wilson 2900 with Eminence leadpipe
Sterling Virtuoso (300 mm heavy red brass bell)
    Cortios 167 II
'Gob Iron': Doug Elliott Euph 104 I 9s (plus a few others!)

YD, hard to do in the US where the medium shank reigns supreme; might even make it harder to sell, even though it improves the sound and response by most people's standards.

    Another experience:

I had the receiver changed out on my old Willson. Dan Schultz did his usual flawless job on it...how fortunate that I'm only 3 hours away from him and that he's near the college my son attends!
It did indeed change the response for the better.
When I sold it, I told the buyer that it allowed for a wider choice of mouthpiece and better response.
I gave him a mouthpiece that he could play well, and the deal was sealed.

Then I immediately took the cash from that sale and some of my own and got my Miraphone 5050!

Jim, I think you found an open minded buyer. Those folks who must have a Willson 2900 with a BB1, just like a certain school/style of playing advocates, would never touch a large shank 2900.

Exactly right, JTJ! My buyer listened to me play it, then played it himself. Fortunately, neither of us had dreams of study in Texas.

Did you ever see the thread on TubeNet where a college professor (ironically also in Texas) flatly stated that the 2900/BB1 combination was the only acceptable setup for serious euphonium players?

    My response was something like...

    "Dear Professor X,
Thank you for setting us straight about the gear we ought to be using as serious euphonium professionals.

    Sincerely,
Demondrae Thurman, Steven Mead, Robert Childs, Nicholas Childs, David Childs, Glyn Williams, David Werden, Matt Tropman, Rich Matteson" (and about 10 other names I can't recall now)
