Leonard Falcone
Just saw this on the Yahoo TubaEuph group:
A new authorized biography of Leonard Falcone, former director of bands at Michigan State University and euphonium virtuoso, has been written and is now available by mail. Check leonardfalcone.com for information on how to get a copy.
The Web site also lists three of Falcone's solo recordings for sale, and these are a valuable resource for any serious euphonium player. They were mostly recorded in the 1960s on Golden Crest records and have been unavailable for a long time. They have been re-issued on CD now, and there are a few audio clips available on the Web site so you can sample what's on the records, as well. I am putting my order in the mail today.
I have no financial interest in the biography or recordings; I feel honored to have been a Falcone student while I was in high school and during my time at Michigan State. Other Falcone students occupied the top euphonium and tuba chairs in all of the Washington post military bands for many years. It is wonderful that these recordings are available again.
