Grime Gutter / Water Catcher (Schiller Elite)

I am looking for an online store to purchase a grime gutter for my new Schiller Elite. The valves do have the nipples on them and I am pretty sure that the new water catcher for a Yamaha 642 will work.

Any idea where these can be purchased online??

I don't think Yamaha sells these anymore, but you could try contacting their representative. The contact name I have is Kurt Witt and his email address is: KWitt[at]yamaha.com (I disguised the at symbol to prevent spam bot harvesting). About a year or so ago he was giving these away along with the felt inserts. I wish I had gotten some more myself. If needed, here are the part number:

    P/N for Yamaha's valve trough: YAC 1671P
    P/N for Yamaha's felt inserts : YAC 1672P

Image of valve trough (if you can find one):

Hope this helps... and good luck.

It appears that email address is no longer valid. Perhaps Kurt no longer works for Yamaha.

I tried that address (with the @ substituted in the right place) and it went through. I don't have another address for him.

Yes, it's possible he's moved on to another job.

I did email some general addresses at Yamaha as well as a handful of dealers. We'll see if I can turn something up. (BTW, the above is a screen capture image from gmail, not text...so the chances of that email address being harvested are minimal)

You're right, if you can find one, the 642 catcher will fit.

I sent a similar email last year to the address suggested by RickF and another person named Jonathan Goldman responded and sent me one within a couple of days. Hopefully, you can still reach him here: jgoldman[at]yamaha[dot]com

Also wanted to note that I spoke to a Yamaha dealer before hearing directly from Yamaha. This item is discontinued, but he said that you can order the Bach version and it will fit as well (and was quite cheap).

I am not sure what all the hoopla is about a grime catcher. I have never used one. What does it do? My horn doesn't leak out of the valves very often unless I put too much oil on.

I don't think I would want to touch those pads to change them out..

    Maybe it is just me...
