Hello everyone, just wanted to let you know the information for the 1st IEI Festival Solo Competition for Euphonium and Tuba is now posted at http://www.euphonium.com/competition.html. Enjoy and hope you will take part in the event. There will also be a Duet Competition sponsored by SymbiosisDuo.

4 Divisions
1) Euphonium Artist
2) Tuba Artist
3) Euphonium/Tuba Student (ages 18 and under)

All competitors must be registered for the 2011 IEI Festival as either a Full Participant or Auditor.

The Artist Divisions are open to all interested players of any age except professional players working full time as a performer or college level teacher.

The Student Division is open to students age 18 and younger as of June 30,2011.

The SymbiosisDuo Duet Competition is open to duos of either two euphoniums, two tubas, or one euphonium and one tuba. The competition is open to all interested players of any age except professional players working full time as a performer or college level teacher.

Prizes

Solo prizes for each division:

1st Prize - $400 Cash + Full Tuition Scholarship to the IEI Festival 2012
2nd Prize - $200 Cash + Half Tuition Scholarship to th
e IEI Festival 2012


When and Where

The competition will take place during the IEI Festival 2011 at Emory University. The dates are June 19-25. The unaccompanied Preliminary Round for the solo competitions will start around 12 noon on Sunday June 19 and the Finals will be later in the week. Some competitors may choose to arrive in Atlanta on June 18th.

Tuba Artist Division:


Eligibility: Open to all persons except professional players earning a living primarily performing on tuba. There is no age limit.


Preliminary Round: Persichetti Serenade #12 (all movements)


Final Round: Vaughn Williams - Tuba Concerto (Mvt 1 & 2)





Euphonium / Tuba Student Division


Eligibility: Open to all persons aged 18 or younger as of June 30, 2011. Participants will play the same pieces, but tubas will perform them in a lower octave.



Preliminary Round:

1) Rochut/Bordogni - Melodious Etudes for Trombone Book 1 - No. 2 (tubas will perform it down one octave)
