Dave's recording of Schubert's Serenade - how was it recorded?
Hi, Dave,
I like your recording of Schubert's Serenade recently uploaded to Youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nO5h9UO_YU. You mention it was recorded during a church service - do you have any idea how it was miked? The quality seems really good for a church sanctuary.

Thanks. I used a stereo mic and a portable digital recorder. The mic has good tonal balance, but especially because it is a stereo mic it reduces the phase problems that would otherwise be troublesome in a room with so much reverb. I had the mic about 12 feet from the piano and me. The digital recorder has very good response, manual level adjustment, and good battery life so I didn't have to worry about plugging it in. The stereo mic and recorder fit into one of my old pencil mic carrying cases (about the size of a Bible), so it was very convenient.
Mic:
Audio Technica Stereo Microphone
Recorder:
Edirol Portable Digital Recorder
