Thread: Yamaha 642 Neo

  1. #91
Random fun fact: Based on Yamaha Wind's Facebook page, they officially announced the release of the Yamaha Neo 642T/642ST in Japan on 22th June 2020. (mentioned it in another thread)

The other interesting tidbit though is that they mentioned in the end "Trigger system not sold separately"

Was secretly hoping we could actually bring our triggerless Neo to their factories to have the trigger installed if we wanted, but guess that's not an option for now!

The Trigger system requires different tolerances and precise alignment on the main tuning slide. It's a lot looser so it slides easily, which means you can't just install the trigger on the tuning slide on the regular 642 and have it work. The springs won't be powerful enough.

So I started this thread over nine years ago and it still lives on!

Played the Neo after it came out, then switched totally to Adams for 4-5 years, then found a Neo which someone had returned after buying. It played especially well and I switched back.

Seems like there's a hint from his February post that Steve Walsh may be eyeing at a Geneva now.

https://www.facebook.com/yamahawinds...67907253401481 Yamaha recently announced a grime gutter for the Neo series.

Unfortunately this grime gutter will not fit on the horns that were made before the serial number No.10000.

Wonder when Yamaha will start rolling out to the rest of the world! Might be worth checking with your local Yamaha centers or shops!
