    Band Camp Audition Music Suggestion?

I am going to a Band Camp at a local university for the summer, and you can choose what sangs you play for an audition. I need something that shows off my low and high range, and I will most likey be using a compensating horn so any low B naturals wont be a problem. It should be something i Enjoy playing, I enjoy playing marches and lively tunes, so any Suggestions? I am a Euph player for about 2 years.

What is a comfortable top note for you? Do you need to play a "solo" in particular, or can you play band music?

    Band Camp Audition Music Suggestion?

The top note i can play comfortably is a high Bb, but with practice i can get Eb above that. I can play band music, I should one slow melodic piece that will show off my range, and a faster rythmic piece that will show off my abilities such as faster tounging and such.

You could buy the Euphonium Excerpt Book. There are some pieces right there you can use, assuming you don't need an accompanist.

    Slow:

Irish Tune from County Derry (Danny Boy)

    Roman Carnival (first part)

    Fast:

Lots of marches to choose from, plus many overtures, etc.

I concur with Dave. Plus, this excerpt book turned out to be terrific to have both in college and in my recent playing. My conductor's look was priceless when I asked if we could play Pineapple Poll at tempo for the first read to get a feel for it and was able to nail the opening. Naturally, I made no mention of the book. I have also stepped into short rehearsal scenarios and was more than ready just because I have made regular use of it.

Guilmant's Morceau Symphonique sounds like a good possibility per your description. It is a nice lyrical piece that makes use of the upper register and has a late passage which requires a little technical facility.

Even if you opt for a solo, you should put some real thought into getting the excerpt book.
