Thread: Yamaha 642 II

  1. Yamaha 642 II

Hey, I was on Yamaha's website and I noticed they had a new euphonium listed, the 642 II. Here's the link:

I tried searching online, but I couldn't find anywhere to buy these, I actually couldn't find anything about them at all. So just wondering if anyone's played these, knows the price, and knows why there's virtually no info. about these online?

    It's a 642 with some minor tweaks.
It should be a solid horn with good intonation.
    It's not fully redesigned.
    It's not version 2.0, it's more like 1.4.

I was hoping for a little more than a 1.4, something like a 642 with a true British sound.

    Have you played one denNIS?

    No, haven't.
Usually when Yamaha attaches a II to an instrument, they've changed a minor detail for parts (soldered on or screw on leadpipes for 321II and 201 tubae for example). It's not a new model in full redesign, it has something changed.
As to what was changed, I don't know. I guess I'll find out when I need parts. I'm not really a Yamaha fan.

I'm getting ready to buy a new horn and am looking forward to trying out one, hopefully near the end of this month.
