    Repertoire Suggestions

I'm working at a camp this summer that has an intensive piano academy for talented high school students. Part of this experience is that they perform a piece with a soloist to give them a chance to work on their collaboration skills. Can anyone suggest some good pieces, preferably but not limited to original euphonium works, that would be appropriate for this? Something that makes ensemble challenging would be good.

    Thanks!

David's Concertino is a trombone piece that is often played on the euph. The piano part is quite challenging.

'Fantasy Variations" by ITO Yasuhide. Requires a lot of interplay between piano & euphonium, and can be quite tricky for the pianist. Very cool, sensitive, lovely piece with great variations on a theme. But needs a strong eupher to play it.

I would agree with the above post. Our studio just performed that piece and our pianist said it was the hardest piece he's worked on in his 6 years of music study as an accompanist.
