Not tuba/euph specific, but the sonority ... WOW!

Wow is right!! A very impressive performance with excellent blend of sound! I especially liked their performance of "Variations on a Hymn by Louis Bourgeois" Claude T. Smith (old hundredth or Doxology). In the fanfare section the horns sound awesome. Then when the hymn starts, they sound better than a large pipe organ. The double basses add a lot to the sound too.

I've noticed that all of the groups from Japan are very animated. Even when they're counting rests, you can see them nod on on the down beat. Must be something they're taught in their music programs.

It's the Suzuki influence, It's such a great educational system, but takes a lot of time and dedication to make it worth properly.

I've been a pretty aggressive foot tapper my whole life. Particularly if there is a lot of syncopation. In marching band I reinforce the "Down/Up" system quite a bit as well....

Our MD is also the director of "Bravo Music" and just shared a link to the 2009 championships of elementary schools in Japan playing 'Slava'. Notice they've memorized their music.
