Besson Class A Prototype
There is a an Eb Besson Class A Prototype tuba for sale on a local auction site in the Montreal area. I have never heard that Besson had a "Class A Prototype" model. I google the web and cannot find any information about that model.
As anyone ever heard of such an instrument?
Thanks.

Besson Class A Prototype
I actually have an old Besson Prototype Eb bass. I've been told it's probably late 19th Century. It's a silver plated instrument with wuite intricate engraving on the bell. Not sure about the 'Class A' this could perhaps refer to the condition of the instrument. Mine was (I believe) an old Salvation Army instrument sourced for me by my Music Teacher when I was learning. It's pretty battered but has a lovely mellow tone.

Besson Class A Prototype
Class A is a marking of a professional horn from Boosey and Hawkes. Very old, my Salvationist is a Class A.
Great horns, but very old... VERY,
