Saint Xavier Tuba Audition 2009-2010
Saint Xavier University is looking for Tubists wishing to obtain either a Bachelor in Music Performance or a Bachelor of Arts.
To audition:
Students wishing to study as a music major or minor must audition for admission into the Department of Music. Financial Aid, Music Scholarships and Talent Awards are available and are renewable each year based on continued study and earned GPA. In addition to music scholarships, students may receive other forms of financial aid including Presidential Scholarships, Leadership Scholarships, need and merit-based grants, work-study awards and student loans through our Financial Aid. For further information about admission or scholarships, please contact the Music Department.
All prospective majors and minors who select a string, woodwind, brass or percussion instrument as their principal area of applied music study must audition for the music faculty. Each applicant should:
1. Perform one or more prepared solos (under seven minutes playing time).
Piano accompaniments are preferred.
2. Perform two or three minutes of technical exercises and tonal development
studies. Be prepared to play any major scale.
3. Sight Read selected examples of music of moderate difficulty.
Scholarships are between $4,000 and $7,000 a year dependant on performance ability.
