    Tips for the T/E Quartet

    Hey all,

I don't know how many of these posts there are (the search feature isn't working correctly) but I just wanted a little insight into the art of the tuba quartet.

I had a pretty good one last year (we pulled off Toccata and Fugue...) and this year's group looks even better.

What general guidelines are good for T/E quartets to follow (intonation, tempo, articulations, etc.)

    Our current repetoire includes:

In the Hall of the Mountain King - Arr. Werden
Auburn is the color - Forbes
    Power - Forbes
    Cosmic Voyage - Forbes
    Abandon - Freidrich
    Cantabile - Friedrich
Pavane, Op. 50 - Arr. Wilson
Barber of Seville Overture - Arr. Doughty

    Any help is appreciated!

    Tips for the T/E Quartet

I'll try a word that I used when asked by a brass quintet what I thought was the most important quality they should have - - - - chemistry.

Playing the right notes and right rhythms and making a good ensemble sound is all well and good, but if your group doesn't have a characteristic sound as a unit with nice blend and texture, you'll just be making sounds and the audience will not relate at all with you.
