    Cockleshell Heroes

I spent a few years looking for this piece and finally found it. I donated it to my hometown band, the Burlington Municipal Band (www.muniband.org), in Burlington, Iowa. It's written by Sir Vivian Dunn. The euphonium has some nice lines in it doubling the woodwinds in some areas as well as one nicely exposed line before recapping the main theme.

Yes indeed, one of the finest. Back in 1973 I played this under Vivian Dunn himself. He was a guest conductor at our concert (our MD was an ex-Scott's Guards director and they were old chums).
He liked to keep it moving along I remember, not getting bogged down in the patriotic stuff right to the very end.
