    The Band

Several tracks from The Band's 1968 classic album "Music From Big Pink" contain parts listed as a "high school horn". This is none other than an old-school "American baritone horn" that was common in years past! Most of the parts are just long tones to pad the sound a bit, but "Chest Fever" actually has this goofy break in the middle that is a trio between the baritone, violin, and saxophone. It sounds like a really out-of-tune salvation army band! Give it a listen.

A friend just lent me a copy of "Rock of Ages" by The Band and man, if you want to hear some good horn arrangements check it out.

Howard Johnson plays tuba, euphonium, and baritone sax on the album. Nice work.

Is this the album you are referencing?

Sure is. Fantastic album, in my opinion, because of the horn section. They aren't just generic southern rock anyway, but the horns really make it pop.
