Legacy Winds
I just received a slick color catalog in the mail from Legacy Winds, the new high end custom shop recently rolled out by WWBW. I will definitely have to make a trip to South Bend soon to test out the new Miraphone 5050T against the Bessons and Yorks.

Wow.... what a boost for the euphonium.... A custom sales shop that sells Bassoons, flutes, piccolos, oboes, tubas and... Euphoniums.... thats phenomenal! At least WWBW has the right idea!

Thanks Bruce for sharing the Legacy Winds link.
I was looking at all the euphs they sell. Each page with the model's description also has a picture that when you hover your mouse over it, you get another small picture with some magnification. Nice feature by the web designer. What I noticed from looking at each of these pictures is how broad the new Miraphone M5050 is. The upper bow really sets off from the bell. I wonder how that feature effects projection? Demondre Thurman sure sounds wonderful playing this horn!

Well, I can tell you from personal experience that Demondrae's horn really is large. When he allowed me to play his instrument it made my 842S custom feel small. Your mention of the instrument being broad, and of the upper bow are absolutely spot on. I didn't have enough playing time to see whether or not the increased size of the instrument effected how comfortable it was; but the sound that the instrument produces is broad, big and beautiful, just like the instrument itself. I don't know how the broad setup of the instrument impacts projection, but regardless the instrument projects very easily. Demondrae's new model isn't as open or free blowing as my 842S custom (one of the reasons I got the 842S is how open and free blowing it is), it has a bit more resistance; but to be honest the amount of resistance is just right for the instrument, and it is very to play. After Demondrae let me play his horn, it definitely made me reconsider whether I wanted to keep my 842S or trade it in for a new M5050...
