    642 vs. 2900 vs. 967

I want your input, mainly on the 642 and 967.

    I can get a
    967s - $3k
    968s - $2.9k
    968 - $2.5k
    642 - $Around 3k or less
    2900s - $2.9k

Are they worth it or? All in pristine shape.

    THANKS!

    The prices are reasonable.

It depends on what you're looking for. If you prefer the British sound, go with one of the Sovereigns; if you prefer a brighter sound, go with the 642 or the 2900. (Note that the 2900 is probably euro shank, though.)

The only hesitency I would have with the Sovereigns is that Bessons dating from the mid-90s up to bankruptcy are notorious for quality-control problems, so I would insist on a reasonable trial period and would have the horn checked out by an experienced, local repair tech. (Of course, I would want my repair tech to check out any used instrument I was thinking of buying, and would insist on a trial period with ANY instrument, whether new or used.)

Thanks, you had the SAME thinking as me on the quality. I'm thinking about the 642, I have Yamaha and trust it a lot. Thanks

By the way, my old Sovereign 967S was a "round stamp" model from 1980. It was a keeper! I sold it to one of Dave Werden's students.

Are you able to play test all of these?

This would be one way to be sure on what you want. If you can't, I would probably opt for the 642 myself mainly because I'm familiar with the Yamaha (I play a 641 now) and know that Yamaha's intonation is very good.

          Just my opinion.
