Not so much a gig but school practise
Playing a bell front Baritone has is perks. When in Jr. High band we had a teacher who lost his temper and would throw his (cork handled) baton at any unruly student who caused a commotion. The drum section was directly behind me and one of the drummers started to act up. Here came the baton. I raised up my baritone and the baton was quickly swallowed up in the brass bell. At this point the teacher lost total control of the class. At first I got in trouble, but my dad was a teacher also and when questioned the truth came out about the directors antics. No more flying batons!
