    Sheet Music...

I use the "normal" places to search for music such as Sheetmusicplus.com but I am somewhat dissatisfied with their collection of sheet music for the tuba.

Where do you find Hard to Find sheet music (such as Vivaldi's concerto in A minor for tuba, which I eventually found special ordered)?

Plus does anyone know any good concertos that are written for tuba and band? I cannot find many..

    Thanks

I've never heard of it... yet I live only about an hour and a half to 2 hours away!

I'm not sure how much of a store front Hickey's has, but I started doing business with them about 20 years ago when they were buying a lot of our Whaling Music titles (now published by Cimarron Music). I always got the impression they were good folks (and they always paid their bills promptly!!).

Hickey's is very reliable. I have bought quite a bit from them, and their shipping (overseas, anyway) is very quick. One item I ordered was delayed through no fault of their own, and they were meticulous in keeping me informed.

As for tuba concertos with band, there are quite a few. Shall I presume you mean wind band?
If so, there's the Robert Jager; also a transcription by the composer of the Gregson Concerto (originally for brass band). Elizabeth Raum's Concerto del Garda ( written for Bobo, I think, and premiered at the outdoor concert in the Riva del Garda conference), and I believe she's written another concerto for tuba and band too. I've also heard of, but not seen or heard, one by Frank Bencriscutto, and I think that the Concertino by Curnow might also be for band.
And finally there is a magnificent transcription for wind band of the Vaughan Williams concerto, arranged by Denis Wick, and purchasable from Denis Wick Publishing

I'm sure there's lots more, but I'm not a band player. However, I can recommend the Denis Wick arrangement as I have it, and it is superb.
Hope you find something here to enjoy!
